Founded in 1874, the magazine’s goal is to provide a basis for discussion and information on the many aspects of Freemasonry. It serves as a reference medium for masonic symbolism, philosophy, history and spirituality. Its editorial content is based on the universality of Freemasonry as perceived by the GLAS. The magazine also informs about the activities of the GLAS and its lodges to strengthen their ties.

The Alpina magazine is a trilingual associative newspaper. It serves primarily the members of the GLAS but is open to subscription by members of other obediences as well as laypersons.
